Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Free Cash Flow GenerationSustained FCF (~$3.42B TTM) and positive FCF growth provide durable internal funding for capex, R&D, dividends and buybacks. High cash conversion (62–76% of net income historically) enhances resilience through cycles and supports strategic investments without immediate financing stress.
High‑margin Parts & AftermarketParts business delivers recurring, less-cyclical revenue with strong gross margins (~29.6%) and guided growth (3%–6% for year). A large installed base drives steady aftermarket demand, smoothing overall earnings volatility and providing higher-margin cash flow to offset new‑truck cyclicality.
Investment In Products & TechnologyMaterial capex and R&D commitments plus award-winning EV product wins reinforce long-term competitiveness. Continued investment in flexible manufacturing, next-gen powertrains and connectivity supports market share, product differentiation and transition to EVs, sustaining structural revenue streams.
Bears Say
Leverage & Reporting GapsHistorically elevated leverage (debt close to equity) amplifies cyclical downside risk if truck demand falls. Missing TTM balance-sheet fields reduce transparency and increase uncertainty about current capitalization, weakening confidence in balance‑sheet resilience during downturns.
Top‑line Weakness And Margin PressureSustained revenue decline and year‑over‑year margin compression indicate weakening demand and cost pressure. Lower margins reduce internal funding capacity and ROE sustainability, making earnings more sensitive to input costs and cyclical volatility even with strong absolute profitability.
Persistent Cost & Policy HeadwindsStructural input-cost inflation, tariff/policy uncertainty and intense pricing competition limit ability to fully pass through costs. These factors can depress long‑run truck margins, force higher capex for efficiency, and constrain pricing power across cycles, reducing durable profitability.
