Bulls Say, Bears Say

Bulls Say
High And Expanding Gross MarginsSustained, high gross margins—especially 85%+ SaaS margins—indicate durable product economics and pricing power. High gross margins support scalable SaaS expansion, permit reinvestment in sales/engineering, and buffer profitability while services mix normalizes over multiple quarters.
Improved Balance Sheet And Lower LeverageMaterial deleveraging and a stronger equity base reduce financial risk and increase flexibility. Lower leverage supports capital allocation for SaaS go-to-market, helps satisfy lender covenants, and provides a cushion to absorb investment cycles during multi-quarter commercial transitions.
SaaS Revenue Growth And Rebuilt BacklogConsistent SaaS growth, a rebuilt backlog and early K-12 traction demonstrate product-market fit in a recurring-revenue model. Expanding subscription base and pipeline improves revenue visibility, enhances lifetime value potential, and supports durable margin expansion as services conversion shifts to SaaS.
Bears Say
Worsening Profitability And Net LossesReturn metrics moved negative as net losses deepened, undermining sustainable earnings generation. Persistent losses pressure retained earnings and ROE, constrain reinvestment without external funding, and complicate meeting profitability-based covenants and achieving sustained positive adjusted EBITDA.
Sharp Downshift In Cash Flow MomentumAlthough cash flow remained positive, the material 2025 downshift reduces internal funding for sales and product investment. Weaker cash generation increases reliance on external liquidity, raises execution risk during turnaround, and tightens tolerance for missed revenue or margin targets.
Professional Services Revenue DeclineA sharp services contraction reduces near-term revenue diversification and high-margin cash conversion from implementations. Dependence on rebuilding services demand creates execution risk, slows cash conversion, and pressures adjusted EBITDA while SaaS scale is still maturing.
