Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Corebridge Merger Scale And AccretionThe approved Corebridge combination could materially expand retirement and insurance scale, distribution reach and capital resources. If integration proceeds as planned, the targeted earnings and cash-flow accretion may strengthen EQH’s long-term operating platform.
Recurring Asset And Retirement InflowsRecord AUMA and positive flows across retirement and wealth indicate durable client demand and expanding fee-generating balances. Continued asset gathering can support recurring revenue, diversify earnings and improve operating leverage across distribution channels.
AllianceBernstein Private Markets GrowthAllianceBernstein’s scale and private-markets expansion strengthen EQH’s asset-management franchise beyond traditional products. Growing higher-value platforms and performance-fee opportunities can diversify revenue and support long-term fee growth if client demand persists.
Bears Say
Negative Shareholders’ EquityA persistent equity deficit weakens balance-sheet flexibility and makes leverage and return metrics harder to interpret. It can leave EQH more sensitive to investment, insurance and hedging volatility while limiting capacity to absorb adverse outcomes.
Deteriorating GAAP ProfitabilityThe reversal from prior profitability indicates reduced earnings stability, with losses linked to operating pressure, investment impacts and hedge effects. Sustained weak GAAP results could constrain retained capital and make cash generation less durable.
Unprofitable Employee Benefits BusinessThe business’s inability to reach profitability at meaningful scale exposes prior portfolio-selection and execution weaknesses. Its sale may improve focus, but also underscores that parts of EQH’s protection platform have not generated acceptable economics.

EQH Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed broad momentum: merger approvals, advanced integration planning, record AUMA ($1.2T, +10% YoY), strong organic flows across Retirement, Wealth and AB, robust EPS growth (~24% YoY / ~25% H1), and active capital returns. Notable negatives include a GAAP net loss driven by hedge impacts, below-plan alternative returns (small portion of assets), a slightly larger corporate loss due to compensation accruals and elevated mortality, and an unprofitable Employee Benefits business being sold. On balance, the positives around deal progress, cash generation, segment growth, and capital returns materially outweigh the contained near-term challenges.View all EQH earnings summariesEQH Stock 12 Month Forecast
