Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Automotive Market ShareAnalyst notes export restrictions on a competitor and supplier diversification by vehicle manufacturers are enabling Vishay to win incremental automotive market share, which could translate into higher revenue as customers qualify new suppliers.
Demand And Backlog MomentumAnalyst highlights growth in orders, expanding backlogs, and improving point-of-sale trends as signs of strengthening end-market demand that could support rising shipments.
Product Portfolio ExpansionAnalyst cites investments in MOSFETs and diode modules as opportunities to broaden the product mix and drive revenue and margin upside if automotive qualifications succeed.
Bears Say
Commodity Inflation And Elevated ExpensesAnalyst points to rising prices for key materials such as gold, copper and palladium combined with elevated selling and administrative expenses and higher capital spending as a source of cash flow strain and constrained margin recovery.
Price Competition And Margin CompressionAnalyst warns that aggressive price competition forced price reductions to gain volume, compressing gross margins and limiting profitability.
Underutilized Manufacturing CapacityAnalyst reports underutilization at the Newport manufacturing plant is creating extra fixed costs that reduce gross margins until the site reaches breakeven.

Vishay
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. is a global manufacturer and supplier of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components, serving customers across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The company organizes its operations across six primary segments: Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors (MOSFETs), Diodes, Optoelectronic Components, Resistors, Inductors, and Capacitors. The MOSFETs division offers a variety of products, including low- and medium-voltage TrenchFET MOSFETs, high-voltage planar MOSFETs, high-voltage Super Junction MOSFETs, along with power integrated circuits and integrated function power devices. VSH Earnings Call
Q1 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed clear operational momentum: revenue beat, broad‑based demand, improving book‑to‑bill and backlog, margin progress, and visible progress on strategic capacity projects (Newport and 12-inch fab). At the same time, significant near‑term financial headwinds remain — negative free cash flow driven by heavy CapEx, elevated tax guidance, working capital build, input cost pressures, and U.S. revolver usage. Management portrays these negatives as temporary tradeoffs tied to purposeful capacity investments to capture an upcycle. Overall the tone is constructive and growth‑oriented but cautious on near‑term cash and margin volatility.View all VSH earnings summariesVSH Stock 12 Month Forecast
