The firm's activities are strategically divided into two primary segments: the Commercial and Military Engine Business, and the Commercial Maintenance Business. Within the engine business, MTU designs and supplies advanced propulsion units for a diverse array of commercial aircraft, including wide-body, narrow-body, regional, and business jets. For military applications, its engines are integral to fighter aircraft, helicopters, and transport planes. The company also offers industrial gas turbines. Beyond new engine production, MTU Aero Engines provides comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for both commercial and military powerplants. Additionally, it produces and distributes specialized brush seals. Established in 1913 and headquartered in Munich, Germany, the company adopted its current name, MTU Aero Engines AG, in May 2013, transitioning from its previous identity as MTU Aero Engines Holding AG.
