Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Fee‑based, Contract-driven Midstream ModelA predominately fee-based commercial model tied to gathering, processing, terminaling and water services creates durable, predictable cash flows less exposed to commodity price swings. Long-term contracts and minimum commitments support steady throughput fees and stable revenue over multi-year horizons.
High Margins And Strong Cash ConversionRobust operating cash flow that consistently outpaces net income and improving TTM free cash flow point to high-quality earnings and strong cash conversion. Combined with very high adjusted EBITDA margins noted by management, this underpins sustainable cash to fund distributions, capex and deleveraging.
Clear Cash-allocation Plan And Active Liquidity ManagementManagement has reiterated material adjusted FCF guidance and a framework prioritizing a 5% distribution increase plus ~$280M excess cash for shareholder returns and debt paydown. Active revolver drawdown and explicit allocation plans improve capital allocation visibility and support long-term leverage reduction goals.
Bears Say
Elevated Leverage And Refinancing ExposureHigh absolute debt and an elevated debt-to-equity ratio reduce financial flexibility and raise refinancing and interest‑rate risk if market conditions tighten. While cash flow is strong, elevated leverage limits capacity for growth investments and amplifies downside in periods of lower throughput or rising rates.
Customer And Regional Concentration RiskConcentration in the Bakken and a material commercial relationship with a single large upstream counterparty concentrate volume and counterparty credit risk. Sustained weakness or slower development in the region or by that customer would materially reduce contracted throughput and fee revenue over the medium term.
Flat Near-term EBITDA Guidance; Execution/weather SensitivityManagement's flat EBITDA guidance despite higher FCF highlights limited near-term growth in core earnings. Guidance sensitivity to weather, maintenance phasing and execution implies earnings volatility and constrained organic EBITDA expansion absent higher volumes or new fee contracts.

Company Description
Hess Midstream Partners Lp

Additionally, it features around 550 miles of crude oil gathering pipelines. Within the Processing and Storage segment, key assets include the Tioga Gas Plant, located in Tioga, North Dakota, which performs natural gas processing and fractionation. The company also holds a 50% ownership interest in the Little Missouri 4 gas processing plant, situated in McKenzie County, North Dakota, south of the Missouri River. HESM Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed a generally positive operational and financial picture: strong margins (85%), reiterated robust adjusted free cash flow guidance (+20% YoY at midpoint), sequential net income and EBITDA improvement, active debt reduction and a clear plan to return excess cash to shareholders. Near-term headwinds include phased maintenance driving higher Q3 OpEx, a small sequential decline in adjusted free cash flow, and flat-to-lower oil throughput. Guidance is conservative on EBITDA due to weather and execution sensitivity, but capital efficiency and liquidity improvements underpin a constructive outlook.View all HESM earnings summariesHESM Stock 12 Month Forecast
