Engie S.A. is an energy company primarily involved in electricity, natural gas, and various energy solutions. Its operations are structured across several key divisions: Renewables, Networks, Energy Solutions, Thermal, Supply, Nuclear, and Others. The Renewables division focuses on generating clean energy, covering the entire project lifecycle from funding and development to the ongoing operation and upkeep of facilities powered by diverse sources like hydropower, onshore and offshore wind, solar photovoltaics, biomass, and geothermal energy. Its Networks segment manages and expands critical electricity and gas infrastructure, including overseeing and developing transportation and distribution networks for natural gas and electricity, both within and beyond Europe. It also handles underground natural gas storage across Europe and operates regasification terminals in France and Chile. The Energy Solutions division specializes in building and operating decentralized energy systems designed to produce environmentally friendly, low-carbon power, along with offering associated services. Within the Thermal segment, the company generates electricity from thermal assets, primarily operating power stations fueled by natural gas or coal, and also manages pumped-storage facilities. Furthermore, this segment is involved in the funding, construction, and operation of water desalination facilities, alongside developing hydrogen production initiatives. The Supply segment focuses on distributing and selling gas and electricity to a diverse customer base, including businesses, individuals, and households. Nuclear operations involve generating power from atomic energy. Established in 1880 and headquartered in Courbevoie, France, the company was previously known as GDF SUEZ S.A. before adopting the name ENGIE SA in April 2015.
