Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Improved Leverage And Capital BaseLeverage fell materially to roughly 0.15 in 2025 and equity expanded, strengthening solvency and financial flexibility. A healthier capital base reduces refinancing risk, supports ongoing store investment and SEC reporting needs, and gives management time to restore operating returns without liquidity pressure.
Positive Operating And Free Cash Flow TrendCash generation improved from negative to positive operating and free cash flow across 2024–2025, with FCF growth ~12.8% in 2025. Sustained positive cash flow provides durable funding for store openings, working capital and debt service, lowering reliance on external capital if the trend continues.
Healthy Gross Margin ProfileGross margin expanded to roughly 45% in 2025, driven by product mix and seasonal sales. A structurally higher gross margin gives room to absorb operating expenses and competitive pricing pressure, enabling margin recovery at the operating level if opex growth is controlled.
Bears Say
Negative Operating ProfitabilityOperating margin swung negative (~-10% in 2025) as store expansion and higher professional fees outpaced gross profit gains. Persistent operating losses indicate core retail economics aren't covering SG&A, threatening long-term scalability unless management materially improves operating efficiency or raises higher-margin revenue.
Revenue Volatility And DeclineRevenue fell about 5.7% in 2025 after volatile prior years, with U.S. store declines and closures noted. Durable growth is uncertain: inconsistent top-line trends limit predictable cash flow and make return on new store investment harder to forecast, complicating expansion plans over the medium term.
Very Low Returns On EquityROE near 0.3% in 2025 shows the enlarged equity base is not translating into profitable returns. Low ROE signals weak capital efficiency and raises questions about long-term shareholder value creation, increasing pressure on management to improve margins or reallocate capital more productively.
