Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Strong Free Cash Flow GenerationSustained near‑term cash generation provides durable funding for sustaining/growth capex, debt service, and shareholder returns. High FCF conversion improves optionality to execute buybacks/dividends and maintain liquidity through commodity cycles, supporting financial flexibility over the next 2–6 months.
Step‑up In Production Scale And Metals DiversificationMaterial production growth from recent asset additions materially increases scale and shifts revenue mix toward silver and copper. Higher volumes and a diversified metals basket reduce single‑metal revenue swings and bolster near‑term cash generation and operational resilience across 2–6 months.
Improved Liquidity And Explicit Capital Return PolicyA stronger cash position, modern revolver, and an explicit buyback/dividend program signal management confidence and financial flexibility. These structural changes institutionalize returns and allow active balance‑sheet management while preserving optionality during commodity cycles.
Bears Say
Cyclical Earnings And Cash‑flow VolatilityThe business remains exposed to commodity price and operating‑cost swings; prior multi‑year negative cash flows illustrate downside risk. If metal prices or recoveries moderate, margins and FCF could reverse quickly, pressuring repurchases/dividends and liquidity within months.
Large Deferred Tax Liability From Purchase AccountingA sizable non‑cash deferred tax liability materially alters the balance sheet and will unwind slowly over years. While not an immediate cash drain, it complicates equity metrics, capital allocation calculus and can constrain reported returns or limit perceived solvency during stress scenarios.
Inventory Drawdown Raising Reported Unit CostsIngesting legacy stockpiles inflates near‑term cost‑per‑oz metrics despite being largely non‑cash. Elevated reported CAS reduces margin comparability and may persist for several quarters as inventory monetizes, complicating operational cadence and short‑to‑medium term performance assessment.

Company Description
Coeur Mining
Coeur Mining, Inc. is a company primarily focused on the exploration and development of precious metal deposits across North America, with operations spanning the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The company's key activities involve discovering and extracting resources such as gold, silver, zinc, and lead. Coeur Mining maintains a 100% ownership stake in several significant mining assets. These include the Palmarejo gold and silver mine in Chihuahua, Northern Mexico, which encompasses approximately 67,296 net acres. In northwestern Nevada, the Rochester silver and gold mine covers about 43,441 net acres. The Kensington gold mine, situated north of Juneau, Alaska, spans 3,972 net acres. Additionally, the Wharf gold mine occupies roughly 3,243 net acres in the northern Black Hills of western South Dakota, and the Silvertip silver-zinc-lead mine in northern British Columbia, Canada, extends over 97,298 net acres. Beyond these fully-owned sites, Coeur Mining also holds interests in the Crown and Sterling projects located in southern Nevada, as well as the La Preciosa project in Mexico. The concentrates produced from its operations are then marketed and sold to various third-party customers and smelters through established off-take agreements. Historically, the company was known as Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation before rebranding to Coeur Mining, Inc. in May 2013. Established in 1928, its corporate headquarters are located in Chicago, Illinois.

CDE Earnings Call
Q1 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed strong positive momentum driven by transformational M&A, record quarterly revenue and EBITDA, materially improved liquidity and a bold 2026 outlook (>$3B EBITDA, ~$2B free cash flow) and meaningful production growth (notably ~80% higher gold production expected). Major positives include integration progress, balance sheet strengthening, capital return policy, and safety accolades. Key near-term negatives are accounting-driven distortions (an $85M non-cash CAS uplift and a large deferred tax liability) and some seasonal/one-time operational and tax timing items that inflated reported CAS and produced choppiness in Q1 results. Management characterized many negatives as non-cash or one-time and expects operations and reported metrics to normalize across the back half of the year.View all CDE earnings summariesCDE Stock 12 Month Forecast
