South Manganese Investment Limited, an investment holding entity headquartered in Admiralty, Hong Kong, since its incorporation in 2005 (and known as CITIC Dameng Holdings Limited until February 2021), specializes in the extraction, refinement, and subsequent processing of manganese. The company's reach extends across Mainland China, other parts of Asia, Europe, and North America. Its multifaceted operations are structured into four key divisions. The Manganese Mining segment is responsible for sourcing and producing various manganese products, including manganese concentrate, natural discharging manganese powder, and sand. This division holds significant interests in several mines, namely Daxin, Tiandeng, and Waifu in Guangxi; Changgou in Guizhou; and Bembélé in Gabon. The EMM and Alloying Materials Production division processes ores through both hydrometallurgical techniques to yield electrolytic manganese metal (EMM) and manganese briquette, and pyrometallurgical methods for producing silicomanganese alloys. The Battery Materials Production segment focuses on manufacturing and distributing essential battery components, such as Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide (EMD), manganese sulfate, lithium manganese oxide, and lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide. Lastly, the Other Business segment encompasses a broad range of activities, including trading various commodities like manganese ores, EMM, manganese alloys, and non-manganese metals; the sale of scrap materials; renting investment properties and leasehold lands; investments in non-manganese metal mining and production companies; manufacturing and selling equipment; property development; and the production of sulphuric acid and steam.
