Additionally, it offers engineering and project management expertise and supervises the planning stages of infrastructure projects. While its roots are in Italy, Snam maintains an international presence, with operations spanning numerous countries such including Albania, Saudi Arabia, Austria, China, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, France, Greece, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Established in 1941, the company was originally known as Snam Rete Gas S.p.A. before undergoing a name change to Snam S.p.A. in January 2012. Its corporate headquarters are located in San Donato Milanese, Italy.
