Snam S.p.A., an Italian corporation, specializes in the ownership and management of natural gas transmission and storage systems primarily within Italy, alongside its various subsidiary entities. Its business operations are structured around three core divisions: Natural Gas Transportation, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Regasification, and Natural Gas Storage. The company is responsible for the distribution and dispatching of natural gas, leveraging an extensive network of high- and medium-pressure pipelines stretching approximately 32,700 kilometers. Furthermore, Snam possesses and oversees plants dedicated to the regasification of liquefied natural gas. In the realm of natural gas storage, Snam delivers crucial services via a comprehensive infrastructure that integrates deposits, wells, gas treatment and compression facilities, and operational dispatching systems. This includes the management of nine storage concessions across Italy: five located in Lombardy, three in Emilia-Romagna, and one in Abruzzo. Beyond its principal gas-related activities, Snam diversifies its offerings. It engages in the leasing and maintenance of fiber optic telecommunications cables, provides integrated solutions for natural gas-powered vehicles, and develops energy efficiency strategies for residential, industrial, commercial, and public administration sectors. The company also oversees biogas and biomethane production facilities. Additionally, it offers engineering and project management expertise and supervises the planning stages of infrastructure projects. While its roots are in Italy, Snam maintains an international presence, with operations spanning numerous countries such including Albania, Saudi Arabia, Austria, China, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, France, Greece, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Established in 1941, the company was originally known as Snam Rete Gas S.p.A. before undergoing a name change to Snam S.p.A. in January 2012. Its corporate headquarters are located in San Donato Milanese, Italy.
