Bulls Say
Revenue And Margin Recovery In 2026The 2026 rebound—double-digit revenue growth and materially higher net margin—signals durable improvement in pricing, mix and operating leverage. Sustained higher margins increase free cash flow capacity, enabling reinvestment, R&D and debt reduction over the next several quarters.
Improved Leverage And Balance-sheet RepairA marked decline in debt-to-equity reflects successful deleveraging and equity accretion, enhancing financial flexibility. Lower leverage reduces interest burden and refinancing risk, making capital allocation (capex, dividends, M&A) more manageable across business cycles in the medium term.
Stronger Free Cash Flow And Earnings QualityConsistent positive free cash flow at a high share of net income indicates improving cash conversion and earnings quality. Reliable FCF supports sustainable funding of working capital, targeted capex and R&D for specialty chemicals, and creates room for continued deleveraging or shareholder returns over coming quarters.
Bears Say
Earnings And Cash-flow CyclicalityHistorical swings from a loss in 2023 to a rebound in 2026 show the business is cyclical and sensitive to end-market demand and pricing. Such volatility undermines forecast visibility, complicates capital allocation and increases the chance of margin pressure or cash stress during downcycles.
Material Absolute Debt Remains (~¥29B)A sizable absolute debt load keeps fixed financing costs elevated and leaves the company exposed if profitability weakens. Even with improved ratios, the absolute debt level could constrain investment flexibility and heighten refinancing or covenant risk in adverse macro or industry conditions.
Working-capital Sensitivity And Uneven OCF CoverageModest operating cash flow relative to revenue and past negative OCF demonstrate vulnerability to working-capital swings and capex cycles. This structural sensitivity can magnify earnings volatility, force short-term financing needs and constrain the pace of sustainable investment or shareholder returns.
