Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Margin Expansion And Profitability ImprovementSharp margin expansion to 15.1% in 2025 reflects structurally stronger project margins and improved cost control on drilling contracts. Sustained higher margins bolster internal cash generation, support reinvestment in rigs and skills, and improve resilience to cyclical revenue swings over months.
De-risked Balance Sheet And Higher ReturnsMaterial de-leveraging and a jump in ROE indicate stronger financial flexibility and profitability per unit equity. A low debt burden reduces refinance and covenant risk for a capital-intensive drilling fleet, enabling steadier bidding on large geothermal projects and longer-term strategic investments.
Structural Exposure To Geothermal And Municipal Drilling DemandSpecialized drilling services for geothermal, water and environmental projects position the company to benefit from secular energy-transition and infrastructure trends. High technical barriers and project expertise create durable client relationships and recurring contract opportunities over multi-month to multi-year horizons.
Bears Say
Cyclical Revenue And Earnings VolatilityHistorical lumpy results highlight dependence on timing and scale of large projects. Project-driven revenues make near-term forecasting unreliable and can cause sharp swings in profitability and utilization, complicating capital allocation and long-term planning across 2–6 month horizons.
Weak Free Cash Flow Conversion In 2025Significant FCF decline and low coverage of net income reduces discretionary capacity to pay down debt, invest in fleet upgrades, or return capital. Persistent reinvestment needs or working-capital swings could constrain balance-sheet repairs and limit strategic optionality over the medium term.
Negative Trailing Revenue-growth MetricA pronounced negative trailing revenue-growth figure indicates uneven top-line trends despite recent rebounds. If project cadence or tender pipelines remain variable, sustaining multi-period revenue growth will be challenging, limiting scale benefits and putting pressure on margin durability.
