Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Deleveraged Balance SheetMaterial deleveraging and a larger equity base materially reduce financial risk and increase strategic flexibility. Lower debt-to-equity (0.70→0.14) and stronger capitalization support bidding on multi-year drilling contracts and absorb project timing shocks over the coming months.
Margin Expansion And Stronger ProfitabilityA sustained improvement in margins and a significant revenue rebound indicate stronger pricing power and execution on complex geothermal and water projects. Higher net margins and better earnings quality support durable cash generation potential and higher returns on equity going forward.
Structural Exposure To Geothermal And Water Drilling MarketsCore business centers on geothermal, groundwater and environmental drilling—markets tied to long-term infrastructure and energy transition projects. Contract-based services for municipalities and energy developers provide a structural revenue runway less prone to consumer-cycle swings.
Bears Say
Weak Free-cash-flow ConversionA ~50.7% fall in free cash flow and FCF covering only ~46% of net income signals weaker cash conversion and higher reinvestment or working-capital needs. That limits capacity to self-fund new rigs or return capital without external funding over the medium term.
Historical Cyclicality And VolatilityPast swings including a sizeable 2020 loss and a steep 2022 revenue decline show the business is cyclical and project-timing sensitive. That history reduces earnings predictability and increases downside risk during slow project cycles or delayed contract awards.
Project-driven Revenue Concentration And Small ScaleRevenue is highly project-based and dependent on fleet utilization and project mix. As a relatively small operator this creates lumpy revenue and concentrated contract risk, constraining diversification and making multi-month visibility into cash flows limited.
