Notable networks within its ownership included Redbox, Crackle, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Popcornflix (along with its Kids and Comedy variations), FrightPix, Truli, and Españolflix. Additionally, it oversaw Pivotshare, a specialized subscription VOD platform. Beyond its core VOD services, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment also provided Redbox Free Live TV, a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service with a variety of channels, as well as a transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) option. It maintained a physical presence through its network of kiosks dedicated to DVD rentals. Furthermore, the firm engaged in the development, acquisition, and distribution of films and television series. It licensed its content across numerous channels, such as theatrical releases, home video, pay-per-view, free television, cable and pay television, and both subscription and advertising-supported VOD platforms. Established in 2016, the company was headquartered in Cos Cob, Connecticut, operating as a subsidiary of Chicken Soup for the Soul, LLC. In a significant development, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Inc., alongside its affiliates, filed for Chapter 11 reorganization on June 28, 2024, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. This filing was subsequently approved as a Chapter 11 liquidation on July 10, 2024.
