Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Improving LeverageDebt-to-equity fell to ~1.35 from ~1.77 while total debt declined to ~2.94B (equity stable ~2.18–2.25B). This deleveraging reduces financial risk, eases interest burden and covenant pressure, and gives management more flexibility to fund capex, stabilize operations or accelerate repair of margins over coming months.
Consistent Operating Cash FlowOperating cash flow has been consistently positive and stable (2025: ~603M vs 2024: ~595M), indicating the core regulated operations continue to generate cash. That recurring cash generation supports working capital, debt servicing and essential maintenance capex, providing a durable liquidity buffer despite profit volatility.
Regulated Gas Business ModelAs a regulated gas provider the company benefits from predictable tariffs, limited competition and structural demand. This regulatory framework tends to deliver stable revenue visibility and lower commercial volatility, helping long-term planning, capital allocation and credit stability versus unregulated peers over multi-quarter horizons.
Bears Say
Sharp Revenue DeclineTop-line revenue plunged ~48.5% in 2025 following modest decline in 2024. Such a large contraction materially reduces scale and operating leverage, may reflect structural demand loss or contract timing issues, and undermines the firm’s ability to absorb fixed costs and reinvest to restore growth over the medium term.
Margin CompressionGross margin fell to ~9.3% and EBITDA margin to ~7.8%, a material deterioration from prior periods. Persistent margin compression indicates pricing pressure or rising costs and reduces operating leverage, limiting the company’s capacity to rebuild profitability and sustain returns even if revenues recover partially.
Weak Free-cash-flow ConversionFree cash flow fell sharply to ~139M in 2025 and represents only about 23% of reported net income, signalling weak cash conversion. Low FCF constrains debt paydown, discretionary capex and shareholder distributions, leaving the company more exposed to shocks despite positive operating cash flow.
