What is Golem?
Golem
Launched in 2018, this computational network works on providing excess computing capacity on demand, where it is needed. Users on the peer-to-peer Golem network can acquire or sell computation and larger tasks are split up into smaller chunks across Golem.
Participants can set their own bids and offers depending on the computational tasks and the network remains open access as well as censorship resistant. Further, the settlement layer is built on top of Ethereum’s Layer 2; this enables transactions at a lower cost and eliminates congestion issues.
This market for computing capacity can be considered Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) as well as Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Golem acts as a decentralized supercomputer. The max supply of Golem tokens is capped at 1 billion.
