Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Profitability RecoveryThe substantial margin recovery and steadily rising EBIT and net income indicate improved earnings quality and operating performance. If sustained, stronger profitability can provide greater resilience against procurement costs and support investment in the utility network.
Improving Balance SheetLower leverage and expanding equity strengthen financial flexibility for a capital-intensive utility. This reduces balance-sheet pressure and improves the company’s ability to fund infrastructure and withstand periods of weaker earnings.
Rebounding Operating Cash FlowThe recovery in operating cash flow and return to positive free cash flow show that recent earnings are again translating into internally generated funds. This supports capital spending, debt management and ongoing operations without relying as heavily on external financing.
Bears Say
Weak Revenue MomentumSeveral years of flat-to-declining revenue limit the company’s structural growth profile, even as margins improve. Persistent top-line weakness may constrain operating leverage and make future profit gains more dependent on cost control or favorable procurement spreads.
Volatile Free Cash FlowThe uneven cash-flow record reduces confidence that reported earnings will consistently become surplus cash. Low conversion in FY2026 and prior negative FCF could limit funding flexibility for infrastructure investment, dividends or debt reduction.
Still-Sizable Debt LoadAlthough leverage has improved, the remaining debt burden leaves the company exposed if profitability or cash generation deteriorates. A weaker earnings environment could increase financing demands and restrict strategic spending in this capital-intensive business.
