Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Exceptionally Low Financial LeverageMinimal debt reduces interest and refinancing risk, preserving flexibility to fund drilling, acquire royalty interests and withstand commodity downturns without relying heavily on external capital.
Strong Cash GenerationOperating cash flow substantially exceeds net income and TTM free cash flow improved sharply, supporting internally funded development, acquisitions and shareholder distributions while strengthening earnings quality.
Active Permian Expansion StrategyRoyalty acquisitions and a sizeable Permian drilling program can broaden the production base and create future revenue capacity, while the non-operated model enables participation without bearing full field-operator costs.
Bears Say
Choppy Revenue And Earnings TrendThe uneven multi-year performance indicates limited earnings compounding visibility. Even with strong TTM profitability, recurring reversals can reduce funding certainty for acquisitions, drilling and dividends.
Commodity Price And Production ExposureMexco’s revenue depends on oil and gas prices plus well volumes. Price swings, decline rates and weaker production can pressure margins and cash generation, making results structurally cyclical despite operational investments.
Limited Control Over OperationsDependence on outside operators limits Mexco’s control over drilling pace, cost management and production execution. Poorer operator decisions or delays could reduce returns on funded interests and constrain growth.
