Earnings Call Summary

Q4 2025
Earnings Call Date:Feb 06, 2026|
% Change Since:
|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call presents a strongly positive operational and financial performance: double-digit top-line growth, robust volume expansion, margin improvement (underlying EBITDA >20% and up 12%), strong cash generation and materially lower leverage (0.25x underlying EBITDA). Significant strategic progress was made on brand building (Biscoff jar and engraving), major market entries (India launch), product innovations (Natural Foods), and capacity expansion (Thailand and U.S. production lines). The main negatives are manageable near-term items: currency headwinds, one-off start-up costs and higher depreciation from new capacity, the reporting impact from the ice-cream carve-out (EUR 11.6m), and some UK softness. Overall, positives materially outweigh the limited near-term challenges.
Company Guidance
The management’s forward guidance highlighted a continued demand-led growth trajectory supported by capacity expansion and disciplined capital allocation: capital expenditure for 2026–27 is guided at about EUR 250 million (vs. EUR 120m in 2025 and ~EUR 240m in 2024–25), the new Thailand plant will be fully operational by end‑H1 2026 (adding Asia/Australia/NZ capacity) with an expected annualised depreciation impact of ~0.5% of sales, and most 2026–27 CapEx is allocated to Biscoff (with specific investments also in South Africa/Wolseley for Natural Foods). Profitability is expected to remain broadly in line with 2025 (underlying EBITDA ~20.2%), despite integration overheads from Thailand, and management flagged an initial FX headwind of ~‑2.5% at the start of 2026; balance‑sheet and cash guidance remains strong with net financial debt at a historic low of 0.25x underlying EBITDA (reported net debt €89m including €21m IFRS16), H2 cash conversion before expansion CapEx >90%, free cash flow before expansion CapEx up 20% in 2025, and no change to a shareholder‑friendly policy (proposed dividend €90/share, +€14, payout slightly above 40%).
Strong Top-Line Growth
Reported sales of EUR 1.35 billion in FY2025, up 10% year-over-year. At constant currencies growth was stronger; like-for-like (normalized) volume growth ~10.4% (~EUR 130 million) and reported volume growth 9.5% (more than EUR 115 million).
Improved Profitability and EBITDA Expansion
Underlying EBITDA margin exceeded 20% (reported ~20.2%) and underlying EBITDA increased 12% versus prior year. Underlying EBIT and EBITDA outpaced top-line growth, signalling operating leverage and margin improvement.
Net Profit and EPS Growth
Net profit increased 13%. Underlying net result amounted to EUR 177 million (13.1% of revenue). Underlying EPS showed a 5-year CAGR of 17.1%.
Robust Cash Generation and Deleveraging
Free cash flow before expansion CapEx up 20%. Cash conversion before expansion CapEx was well above 90% in H2. Net financial debt reduced to a historically low multiple of 0.25x underlying EBITDA (reported net financial debt EUR 89 million, including EUR 21 million IFRS 16 lease debt).
Capital Allocation and Dividend Progress
Invested EUR 120 million in CapEx in 2025 (majority to Thailand plant). More than EUR 500 million invested since 2021 and >EUR 430 million in expansion CapEx. Proposed dividend of EUR 90 per share, up EUR 14 from EUR 76 (approx +18%), and 25 consecutive years of dividend growth (dividend aristocrat status).
Biscoff: Strong Brand Momentum & Global Expansion
Lotus Biscoff pillar grew 13% in 2025; 10-year average growth of 15%. U.S. household penetration stands at 9% with distribution ~80% of stores; Biscoff ranked among fastest-growing global cookie brands. Major launches and brand upgrades: new jar and cookie engraving rollout, nationwide India launch (distribution in >300,000 stores within 4 weeks, 150 million social views) and partnerships with Mondelez and Froneri (Froneri-led Biscoff ice cream launches in 2026).
Natural Foods Pillar Outperformance
Lotus Natural Foods was the fastest-growing pillar in 2025 with 17% growth, now a ~EUR 300 million business. 10-year average growth also 17%. Strong product innovations (e.g., BEAR fruit splits, TREK Protein Flapjack with Biscoff) and successful seasonal and event partnerships driving visibility and sales.
Production Capacity Expansion Delivered
First lines in new Chonburi (Thailand) greenfield produced cookies by end-2025; plant expected fully operational (including spreads and in-house bottling) by end of H1 2026. New spread production and bottling commissioned mid-2025 at Mebane (U.S.), enabling local sourcing, lower duties and faster logistics.
