ETF Overview
Direxion Daily Bitcoin Bull 2X ETF
Direxion Daily Bitcoin Bull 2X ETF (BTCU) is a leveraged, derivative-focused exchange-traded fund that seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of 200% of the price performance of bitcoin. Structured in the “pair” niche as a long-BTC/short-USD exposure, the fund is designed to magnify short-term bullish moves in bitcoin by using derivatives — such as bitcoin futures, total return swaps and other instruments — together with cash and collateral management to achieve twice the daily return of bitcoin’s spot performance.
Because BTCU targets a 2x multiple on a daily basis, its performance over periods longer than one trading day will reflect the effects of daily rebalancing and compounding; in volatile markets this can lead to significant divergence from two times the cumulative return of bitcoin. The fund is intended for active, sophisticated traders and investors who want tactical, short-term exposure to amplified bitcoin gains (and losses), not for passive, long-term buy-and-hold strategies. Investors should understand leveraged-product risks — increased volatility, counterparty and derivatives risk, potential for rapid and substantial losses, and the need for frequent monitoring — before allocating to BTCU.
