Why Rigetti Stock Is Up Today — and Where This Analyst Sees It Going Next

Rigetti Computing (RGTI) shares were higher in premarket trading after the company announced an $8.4 million order for a 108-qubit quantum computer, a sign of growing interest in owning quantum systems rather than relying only on cloud access.

That news quickly drew a response from Wall Street.

Wedbush Securities analyst Antoine Legault kept his Outperform rating on Rigetti and raised his price target to $40 from $35, saying the order shows real demand is starting to build.

Where the Analyst Sees Rigetti Heading Next

Legault said this is not the first sign of growing customer interest in Rigetti’s systems. Just four months ago, Rigetti announced $5.7 million in orders for two smaller quantum systems to be delivered in early 2026, showing demand is already building.

He believes these deals reflect growing interest from governments and research groups in on-site quantum computers, used alongside traditional systems. As the technology improves, he expects commercial customers to move in the same direction.

Because quantum computing is still early and long-term leaders are not yet clear, Legault said actual purchase orders matter more than announcements. In his view, these orders suggest that technically skilled buyers are backing Rigetti’s superconducting approach.

Looking ahead, he expects more customers to place similar orders as Rigetti continues to scale its systems. He pointed to rising qubit counts and better performance as key drivers, especially as system accuracy moves closer to 99.9%.

Is RGTI a Good Stock to Buy?

On the Street, Rigetti holds a Moderate Buy consensus rating, based on 11 analysts’ ratings. The average RGTI stock price is $39.78, implying a 59.17% upside from the current price.
