On Monday, President Trump said he would hold off on attacking Iranian infrastructure for five days following “very good and productive conversations” between the two sides. He added that a peace deal could be reached within the same time period. Iran denied direct talks with the U.S., though it acknowledged indirect communication via intermediaries.

Iran ‘Highly Unlikely’ to Concede on Key U.S. Conditions

Iran has issued two key demands to end the war, which are reparations for damages and a guarantee against future military attacks. On the other hand, the U.S. seeks an end to all Iranian uranium enrichment, the elimination of existing stockpiles, and a halt to ballistic missile development. Iran is “highly unlikely” to agree to these terms, three senior Israeli officials told Reuters.

Rising Brent crude futures (BZ) are also pressuring stocks and are up by nearly 4% on the day, just below the $100 level.
