Investment firm Star Equity’s (STRR) stock rocketed higher on Friday after Hudson Global (HSON) changed its name following a merger. Hudson Global and Star Operating Companies announced a merger on August 22, 2025. That merger has closed, and Hudson Global has decided to change its name after it. It wasn’t just a name change though, as Hudson Global also switched from the HSON ticker to the STRR ticker. This also affected its preferred stock, which switched from the HSONP ticker to the STRRP ticker.

To go along with the name change, Star Equity announced its new leadership team. Jeff Eberwein is CEO, Rick Coleman is Chief Operating Officer, Matt Diamond is Chief Accounting Officer, Hannah Bible is Chief Legal Officer, and Shawn Miles is the Executive Vice President of Finance.

Eberwein said, “Our transition to Star Equity Holdings marks an important milestone in our evolution and growth. The Star Equity Holdings name reflects our vision to build a diversified platform of businesses with strong fundamentals and long-term growth potential.”

Star Equity Stock Movement Today

Star Equity/Hudson Global stock was up 369.5% in pre-market trading on Friday. For the record, shares of HSON stock had fallen 43.33% year-to-date and 38.13% over the past 12 months.

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Star Equity/Hudson Global is Hold, based on a single Hold rating over the past three months. With that comes an average STRR/HSON stock price target of $10.50, representing a potential 6.33% upside for the shares.
