In Thursday’s session, the major indexes fell as worries about artificial-intelligence disruption spread to sectors such as real estate, trucking, and software. The S&P 500 dropped about 1.6%, the Nasdaq Composite fell roughly 2%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost nearly 670 points, or 1.3%.

In after-hours trading, Applied Materials (AMAT) jumped 11% after strong earnings and guidance. Airbnb (ABNB) gained around 2% on upbeat outlook comments, while Pinterest (PINS) slid 14% following weak quarterly results and a soft forecast.

All of the “Magnificent Seventechnology stocks finished lower. Cisco Systems (CSCO) fell 12% after disappointing guidance, and Apple (AAPL) dropped 5%, its biggest one-day decline since April 2025.

Investors are now focused on Friday’s consumer price index report. Economists expect inflation to rise 2.5% from a year ago and 0.3% from the prior month.
