Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is set to meet with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles this Friday to discuss progress in the company’s dispute with the Pentagon. The meeting will also address concerns over the firm’s Mythos AI model, as U.S. officials acknowledge its advanced cybersecurity capabilities, including its ability to test and breach defenses.

U.S. Plans to Roll Out Mythos AI Model
The U.S. government has revealed plans to develop a version of Anthropic’s Mythos for use by major federal agencies. The model, launched privately earlier this April under the firm’s new initiative, Project Glasswing, remains tightly controlled, with access limited to selected institutions that use a preview version for defensive cybersecurity work.
Early results of the AI model have drawn attention and concerns. In a short span, Anthropic reported that Mythos found thousands of critical cybersecurity flaws across operating systems and web browsers, including some that went undetected for up to 27 years. As a result, current access to the model has been restricted to major firms, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), CrowdStrike (CRWD), Google (GOOGL), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Goldman Sachs (GS), and others.
Despite tensions with the Pentagon, Anthropic’s co-founder Jack Clark said the company continues talks with the Trump administration regarding the Mythos AI model. An anonymous source familiar with the negotiations stated that “it would be grossly irresponsible for the U.S. government to deprive itself of the technology leaps that the new AI model presents.” They added that doing so would effectively hand a strategic advantage to rivals, saying “it would be a gift to China.”
EU Raises Concerns Over Mythos Launch Restrictions
Regulators have raised concerns because Mythos AI is not yet available in Europe. Officials pointed to its controlled rollout, which has so far given early access only to U.S. companies, even as Anthropic agreed to follow the EU’s general-purpose AI code of practice.
Speaking in Brussels, Commission spokesman Thomas Regnier said the union must assess and reduce risks from services that may or may not be offered in Europe. Separately, Germany’s chief cybersecurity official Claudia Plattner said her agency is in “active dialogue” with Anthropic, although it has not yet tested the model directly.
In the UK, Anthropic plans to roll out Mythos to financial institutions within the next week, according to its UK, Ireland, and northern Europe head Pip White. The Irish National Cyber Security Center described the company’s controlled launch approach as “responsible.”
