“Weigh on Customer Confidence”: Ford Stock (NYSE:F) Slips, Dealers Get Concerned About Recalls

Legacy automaker Ford (F) has seen a lot of recalls this year already. In fact, they recently saw another one. We will talk about that one later. For right now, there is a growing discontent among dealerships that are starting to get concerned about the growing number of recalls coming out of Ford, and what it may mean for future sales. Ford investors were no less concerned, as shares dipped modestly in Wednesday afternoon’s trading.

The early reports so far do not look good for Ford. Over 7.3 million Ford vehicles have been recalled as of March 3, 2026. There have been more recalls staged between there and here, so we may be closer to eight million at this point. We must also consider that we are not even 90 days into the year yet, and Ford already accounts for roughly one in every three recalls staged in the entirety of 2026 so far.

This is leaving dealers biting their collective nails. They are the front line for these required fixes, as well as for future sales of the vehicles in question. And right now, there is growing concern that the sheer bulk of these recalls may prompt customers to reconsider a Ford purchase as being too much bother. Or worse, potentially, the site of their unexpected death.

Yes, Another Recall

This news came out roughly hours away from another recall, this time focused on 48,000 vehicles across several different models. Ford Ranger, Mustang, Maverick, Explorer, Escape, Bronco Sport and Bronco are included, as well as Lincoln Nautilus and Lincoln Corsair. The recall is posed thanks to the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, which can fail and create “…an unexpected loss of drive power.”

If the valve fails while driving, that loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash, reports note. Worse yet, Ford is working on developing a solution for this, which means there is no solution currently available, and your car may decide to fail at pretty much any time. Ford will notify impacted drivers once the fix is ready, though. However, reports suggest that letters detailing the final remedy will not be sent out until September 2026.
