Starbucks shares climbed 8.46% over the past week, a strong move that came despite a string of mixed headlines. The stock advanced as much as 4% in one session after news that its union, while still pushing for better contracts and even urging customers to delete the app, is striking more selectively and has reached over 30 tentative agreements with the company. Investors appear to see this as a step toward labor stability, reducing the risk of prolonged nationwide disruptions.

At the same time, Starbucks managed to shrug off negative optics from a new lawsuit filed by a former employee alleging disability discrimination after being fired on the day she returned from leave. The company also faced publicity around an $11 cup of coffee at a remote, licensed location near the California–Nevada border, highlighting pricing quirks in parts of its network. These stories generated noise but didn’t derail the share price, which even picked up nearly 2.5% in one session as the market focused more on the broader business than on individual controversies.

On the commercial side, Starbucks is pushing ahead with aggressive marketing and product initiatives, from a Super Bowl-themed “360-degree” campaign offering free coffee to loyalty members, to a slate of new bakery items and ongoing menu experimentation. Analysts remain broadly constructive: Wall Street’s consensus on Starbucks is a Moderate Buy, with several firms, including William Blair and Bank of America, reiterating Buy ratings and price targets above the current trading level. For investors, the 8.46% weekly gain signals renewed confidence that Starbucks can navigate labor tensions, fend off rising competition such as Dutch Bros., and slowly rebuild value after a rocky year for the stock.
