Ford Motor is under fresh regulatory and competitive scrutiny while pushing to keep up with truck demand and advance its technology strategy. The National Transportation Safety Board urged stronger safeguards for Ford’s BlueCruise driver-assist system, including mandatory automated braking, enforced speed limits, and better driver monitoring. Ford stressed that investigators found no quality defects, blamed alcohol use in the crashes reviewed, and said it will consider the recommendations as it refines its driver-assist offerings.

Product buzz is helping the brand image, with new “hyper lime” accents in the Bronco RTR interior drawing attention to Ford’s effort to keep its line-up visually distinctive and feature-rich. At the same time, Ford is canceling its traditional one-week summer shutdown at several plants to rebuild F-Series pickup inventories after an earlier aluminum supply disruption, adding workers and shifts in Dearborn and Kentucky to meet robust demand. Behind the scenes, a Skunk Works team has been quietly working for three years on a new EV platform aimed at select incentive-rich markets even as U.S. EV demand cools, and Wall Street currently rates Ford stock a Hold, with consensus price targets implying roughly 19%–21% upside over the next year.

Ford Motor’s technology bench just took a hit, however, as its former chief data, AI, and analytics officer, Dr. Franziska Bell, left to become Home Depot’s chief technology officer. Her departure underscores the intense competition for AI leadership talent that automakers face as they race to embed software and automation deeper into vehicles. For investors, the mixed picture combines regulatory pressure and a key tech loss with solid pickup demand, incremental EV progress, and a valuation that still suggests meaningful upside if Ford executes on its production and innovation plans.
