D-Wave Quantum (NYSE: QBTS) saw its share price slide 14.78% over the past week, as investors backed away from high-risk quantum computing names despite the company’s efforts to build its brand and highlight real-world adoption. The company announced the launch of a new podcast, “Quantum Matters,” set to debut on April 7, 2026, designed to showcase practical use cases of quantum computing in manufacturing, supply chains, aerospace, life sciences, and artificial intelligence. Hosted by vice president of quantum technology evangelism Murray Thom, the series is meant to underline D-Wave’s role as a commercial pioneer with both annealing and gate-model quantum platforms.

The marketing push comes at a time when the stock is under pressure from more fundamental worries. D-Wave recently posted a sharp fourth-quarter 2025 earnings miss and a significantly widened GAAP net loss of about $355 million, reflecting heavy R&D and go-to-market spending as well as large non‑cash warrant charges. While full-year 2025 revenue surged 179% to $24.6 million and gross margins topped 80%, investors remain focused on the long road to profitability, “lumpy” revenue guidance, and management’s warning that operating expenses will continue to rise through 2026.

Sentiment has been further dented by a Zacks downgrade to Strong Sell and headlines around insider stock sales, which, even though largely explained as routine tax-related transactions or sales under pre-set 10b5‑1 plans, have amplified concerns in a volatile, speculative name. With the stock already down sharply year-to-date and broader markets rotating away from unprofitable tech, traders are questioning how long D-Wave can sustain aggressive investment before meaningful cash returns materialize. At the same time, a sizable cash position, growing contract wins, and bullish long-term analyst targets are keeping the story alive for investors willing to stomach the near-term turbulence in exchange for a potential payoff from D-Wave’s early lead in commercial quantum computing.
