ARM Holdings PLC ADR has surged 34.10% over the past week as investors bet that the chip designer is becoming a central winner in the next phase of artificial intelligence. A powerful shift in the AI market toward CPU‑heavy “agentic” workloads — where AI systems act more like autonomous assistants than simple chatbots — is boosting demand for the kind of server processors ARM designs. Intel’s blowout earnings, which highlighted a shortage of data‑center CPUs and a move toward a more balanced CPU‑to‑GPU mix, further reinforced the view that CPUs are back at the center of AI spending, pulling ARM’s stock sharply higher.
At the same time, ARM is transforming its own business model. The company has launched its first in‑house AI‑focused chips, including the Arm AGI CPU for data centers and the Neoverse CSS V3, shifting from selling only blueprints to supplying actual silicon and capturing more of the profit per chip. Management expects the AGI CPU alone could generate about $15 billion in annual revenue within five years. New partnerships with major players such as Meta, SK Telecom and Rebellions to co‑develop data‑center silicon and AI infrastructure, plus record royalty revenue driven by adoption at giants like Meta and Google Cloud, signal that ARM’s technology is becoming deeply embedded in the AI stack.
Analysts are racing to keep up with the momentum. Multiple firms, including Susquehanna, Bank of America and others, have raised price targets and reiterated bullish ratings, while TipRanks classifies ARM Holdings stock as a “Strong Buy” based on a large majority of Buy recommendations. Heavy trading volume, a strong year‑to‑date performance, and CEO Rene Haas’ expanded role within parent SoftBank have all added to the excitement. Together, these factors have turned ARM Holdings PLC ADR into one of the week’s standout movers in the AI and semiconductor space.
