Advanced Micro Devices shares surged 33.28% over the past week, capping a rally that has already driven the stock to a new 52‑week high and cemented its status as one of the most closely watched AI names in the semiconductor space. Investors are increasingly rotating out of larger rival Nvidia into AMD, attracted by AMD’s faster growth profile, a 57% jump in data center revenue, and its growing dominance in the fast‑emerging “Agentic AI” server market, where its EPYC CPUs and Instinct GPUs are tailored for complex reasoning and planning workloads demanded by hyperscalers like Microsoft and Alphabet.

Momentum has been further fueled by strong uptake of AMD’s MI355X chips, which are being positioned as a cost‑effective solution for AI inference – the segment of AI that handles real‑time responses and is currently the fastest‑growing part of the market. At the same time, AMD’s open‑source ROCm software stack has matured to the point where switching away from Nvidia’s CUDA is becoming a realistic and financially attractive option for large customers, strengthening the investment case that AMD is in a high‑growth phase rather than a mature plateau. Despite a lofty trailing P/E of 137x, Wall Street maintains a Strong Buy consensus, reflecting confidence that earnings will catch up to the rapid revenue expansion.

Beyond its core chip business, Advanced Micro Devices has also been in the spotlight through strategic partnerships and ETF exposure, which have amplified investor interest and price gains. A new Memorandum of Understanding with Rackspace Technology to build an “Enterprise AI Cloud” for highly regulated and sovereign workloads underscores AMD’s push into secure, end‑to‑end AI infrastructure, using AMD GPUs and CPUs in a fully managed stack. At the same time, AMD has become a key holding in thematic ETFs like the AOT Growth & Innovation ETF and the Amplify Video Game Leaders ETF, giving retail investors diversified ways to ride AMD’s 33.28% weekly surge and broader AI and gaming upside without buying the stock outright.
