New Beauty Experts

The retail giant, which over the last 12 months has transformed its business with new AI technology and partnerships, said that its latest innovation used human rather than artificial skills.

Walmart said that a ‘pioneering group’ of staff in 22 pilot stores across Texas and Arkansas are taking their first steps to becoming part of their new ‘Beauty Expert’ team.

“A new career path is being piloted that empowers associates to provide professional, personal guidance to better serve our customers. As more customers seek a better beauty experience at an affordable price, these experts are the key to helping ensure the service feels just as premium as the store’s elevated space and assortment,” it said.

It highlighted one of its staff, Anabel Perez, who recently gave advice to a “new mom pushing a stroller through the aisle while searching for under-eye cream.”

“Instead of just pointing to a product, Anabel took the time to listen and guide her through the options,” Walmart said.

Customer Engagement 101

It added that the new beauty staff had been drilled in the do’s and don’ts of the new role at one of its 200 Walmart Academy training facilities.

They took part in courses such as Makeup 101 and Customer Engagement 101 and will now receive ongoing monthly and quarterly training materials focused on product knowledge, seasonal needs, customer engagement and top-trending items.

Looking Good for Investors?

Walmart’s health and wellness arm is already performing well with single-digit sales increase in Q4 in the U.S. It will be hoping that the personal touch will keep that demand climbing.

The U.S. beauty and personal care products market is certainly worth chasing. Its size was estimated at $109.56 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach $196.33 billion by 2033. It is being boosted by an increased emphasis on self-care and wellness in U.S. society.
