Shares in U.S. retailer Walmart (WMT) were flat today despite hailing a “supercharged” Thanksgiving.

Electronics in Vogue
The group said that it saw consistently strong sales growth in the busy shopping days between November 25 and December 1. The demand was led by digital, with customers flocking to electronics, toys and fashion.
It added that customers were also seeking convenience this year with the group delivering 57% more orders from stores overall and 44% more orders in under three hours this Black Friday versus last year.

Best Selling Apple
The nation’s top Black Friday buys were Apple AirPods Gen 4, with the 65″ Vizio 4K Smart TV and 55″ Hisense 4K TV close behind. Along with these items, top sellers in other categories included men’s Wrangler denim and Pokémon cards.
It added that nearly 10 million shoppers used the Walmart app in stores to discover available items, navigate aisles, compare prices, and check their lists.
The numbers will add to the recent Walmart feel-good factor after it posted strong Q3 earnings with total revenues up 5.8% and global e-commerce surging 27%.
In a slightly less PR puffy environment, however – the Morgan Stanley (MS) Global Consumer & Retail Conference 2025 – Walmart said that consumers’ dollars are stretched and that they have less money to spend on discretionary items.
It added that it had seen certain areas that have been more impacted by tariffs and had higher prices. It warned that the peak impact of tariff costs would land around the beginning of Q1.
