Fundrise Innovation Fund (VCX) saw extreme volatility today, with its share price jumping to a record $575 before pulling back to $380.97 at the close. In particular, recent news about Anthropic’s latest AI models has added to the excitement, especially since it makes up about 21% of the fund’s portfolio. On top of that, Fundrise recently invested in Erebor Bank, a new financial institution focused on lending to AI-related businesses after the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank. Furthermore, many traders are betting that these companies could go public in the future, which is adding to the hype.

However, there are serious risks that investors need to understand. For instance, analysts are warning that the current price may not be sustainable due to the massive premium over the fund’s actual value. In addition, private company valuations do not change as quickly as stock prices, which means that the current trading price may not reflect reality. Therefore, investors buying at these levels face the risk of significant losses if the price eventually falls closer to the fund’s true value.
