U.S. Stock Futures Steady after S&P 500 Hits New Record

U.S. stock futures were mostly flat Tuesday night after the S&P 500 Index (SPX) closed at a fresh record high. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and the S&P 500 were down 0.05% and 0.06%, respectively, at 6:38 p.m. EST on December 23, while the Nasdaq 100 (NDX) futures were up 0.02%.

The major indices extended their winning streak to four sessions, powered by big tech names such as Alphabet (GOOGL), Nvidia (NVDA), Broadcom (AVGO), and Amazon (AMZN). The S&P 500 rose 0.5% to finish at a record 6,909.79. Also, the Nasdaq Composite and the Dow gained 0.6% and 0.2%, respectively.

Looking ahead, traders are awaiting weekly jobless claims due Wednesday morning for fresh economic signals.

It must be noted that the market will close early at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, December 24, and will be closed all day on Thursday, December 25, for Christmas.
