It’s been a tough few weeks for investors and stock pickers, and U.S. Chess champion Hikaru Nakamura is now also feeling the pain in his TipRanks investment portfolio.

Overall, Hikaru’s portfolio has a total return of minus 4.2%. It is down 0.9% compared with the S&P 500. Only 8 out of 18 transactions have made a profit.

Some of Hikaru’s tech stocks have been the worst performers.

  • Robinhood (HOOD) – He bought 55 shares on September 16, 2025. It represents 3.47% of his overall holdings. He is sitting on a loss of 43.74%, hit by cryptocurrency weakness.
  • Tesla (TSLA) – He bought 7 shares on September 16, 2025. It represents 2.42% of his overall holdings. He is sitting on a loss of 13.41% given vehicle delivery, FSD and competition fears.
  • uniQure (QURE) – He bought 300 shares on November 3, 2025. It represents 4.24% of his overall holdings. He is sitting on a loss of 52.09% due to setbacks in its Huntington’s disease therapy.
  • Shopify (SHOP) – He bought 53 shares on February 6, 2026. It represents 5.67% of his overall holdings. He is sitting on a loss of 20.52% over concerns over AI competition.
