U.S. Blockade Enforcement Widens
The expansion of the blockade may have already begun. Earlier this week, U.S. forces boarded the sanctioned M/T Tifani, a stateless tanker carrying Iranian crude oil, in the Indian Ocean. It marked the first time since the war began on February 28 that the United States had boarded a vessel outside the Middle East.
Iran has continued to reiterate that the blockade violates the ceasefire agreement between the two sides while warning that expanded enforcement risks further escalating the conflict.
