In a separate poll conducted by AP and NORC, 32% of respondents approved of his approach to Iran, while 67% disapproved. The U.S.-Iran war is approaching its second month, while gas prices have surged due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Americans Weigh Iran War Against Rising Economic Impact

Furthermore, the U.S.-Iran war hasn’t boosted perceptions of safety. CNBC notes that 48% of Americans feel less safe, while 30% feel safer. Trump has emphasized that the primary reason for the war is to strip away Iran’s access to nuclear weapons. The sentiment is largely split along party lines, with 60% of Republicans feeling more safe and 78% of Democrats feeling less safe.

Americans are also critical of surging prices at the pump, with 64% of respondents saying that the war isn’t worth it when considering its economic cost or its impact on gas prices.
