The officials added that Trump is starting to favor some kind of military action in order to pressure Iran into accepting the terms laid out by the U.S. The future of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium remains a key sticking point between the two countries.

Furthermore, Trump is considering restarting “Project Freedom,” the U.S. effort to guide ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which was suspended last week. However, any action could be put on hold ahead of Trump’s trip to China this week.
