When asked by PBS News what would happen if the ceasefire expires, Trump responded, “Then lots of bombs start going off.” Despite previously saying that he would not extend the ceasefire, Trump has indicated in recent comments that the deadline will fall on Wednesday instead of Tuesday.

U.S. in No Rush to Reach Deal, Says Trump

The one-day extension was likely enacted to accommodate peace talks between the two sides, with Vice President J.D. Vance set to depart for Islamabad today. Iran has not yet confirmed its participation in the discussions, although the country has signaled that it is ready to negotiate.

Trump’s primary demand is for Iran to have no access to any nuclear weapons. He also emphasized that the U.S. does not need to rush to reach a deal. “We’ve got all the time in the world,” he said.
