Oil Rises as Ceasefire Negotiations Stall
A senior Iranian official told Reuters that the U.S. proposal is “one-sided and unfair.” The terms of the plan include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, an end to Iran’s nuclear weapons program, and permanently shutting down the Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz nuclear facilities.
Oil prices are once again rising as negotiations show little progress. Brent crude futures (BZ), the international benchmark for oil, are up over 5% at the time of writing, while prices at the pump have surged 33% to $3.98 per gallon since the start of the conflict on February 28.
