Following a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Trump has said that the conversation didn’t meet his expectations.

“I’m very disappointed with the conversation I had today with President Putin because I don’t think he’s there,” said Trump to reporters. “I’m just saying, I don’t think he’s looking to stop, and that’s too bad.” He added that the conversation didn’t help increase the chances of a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire and that the pair discussed the situation in Iran.
Trump Holds Call with Zelensky
President Trump held an approximately 40-minute phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the morning of July 4, according to Axios global affairs correspondent Barak Ravid. While details are still scarce, a source close to the matter said that it was a “good conversation.”
Earlier this month, the Department of Defense halted the shipment of some air defense missiles and munitions to Ukraine over concerns that the U.S. stockpile of these weapons was getting too low.
