“I’ve heard great things having to do with medical, and I’ve had bad things having to do with just about everything else but medical,” Trump told reporters on Monday. “And, you know, for pain and various things, I’ve heard some pretty good things, but for other things, I’ve heard some pretty bad things.”

Marijuana’s Controversial Schedule I Classification

Marijuana is currently classified as a Schedule I drug in the U.S., the most restrictive category. Schedule I substances are defined as having no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse and include other drugs like heroin, ecstasy, LSD, and peyote.

Critics argue that marijuana’s classification is outdated and fails to acknowledge its medicinal benefits and relative safety compared to other substances within the Schedule I group.
