Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been subject to several criminal investigations following allegations of organizing a coup after his reelection loss to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2022. The following year, Brazil’s electoral court barred Bolsonaro from running for office until 2030 for spreading disinformation about the country’s electronic voting system.

Trump Conveys Support for Bolsonaro
Trump added that Bolsonaro isn’t guilty of anything except “having fought for THE PEOPLE.” Trump believes that legal pressure against the former Brazilian president is “nothing more, or less, than an attack on a Political Opponent.”
Bolsonaro is still leading the 2026 Brazilian presidential election polls despite his ineligibility, according to Trump.
