President Trump has requested $1.5 trillion in military spending for fiscal year 2027, signaling a 42% increase from 2026. If approved, it would mark the largest amount in modern history allocated to defense spending.

New trading tool for QQQ bullsThe proposed increase comes as the U.S.-Iran war approaches its eighth week with both sides continuing to launch costly missile strikes. “This amount exceeds even the [Ronald] Reagan buildup by approaching the historic increases just prior to World War II, a level that recognizes the current global threat environment and restores the readiness and lethality of our forces,” read a White House budget report.
White House Seeks to Reduce Funding for ‘Woke’ Programs
The report also calls for a 10%, or $73 billion, reduction to nondefense spending, with a focus on eliminating “woke, weaponized, and wasteful programs.”
Programs that would see reduced funding if the budget is approved include:
- NASA: $18.8 billion, down from $24.4 billion
- EPA: $4.2 billion, down from $8.8 billion
- HHS: $111.1 billion, down from $126.9 billion
- USDA: $20.9 billion, down from $25.7 billion
