Trump also praised Pakistan Field Marshal General Asim Munir for his involvement as a mediator and said his presence made it more likely that the U.S. would choose Islamabad as a meeting location for a second time. “He’s fantastic, and therefore it’s more likely that we go back there,” he said.

Trump Confirms He Won’t Attend Second Round of Negotiations

Furthermore, Trump confirmed he would not be present for a second round of talks and didn’t verify who would represent the U.S.

Earlier this week, Trump said the “right people, the appropriate people” contacted the U.S. and requested additional negotiations. Last weekend, the first round of talks unraveled due to disagreements surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium, and its frozen assets worth billions of dollars.
