Mediators Work to Bridge Gaps as Blockade Begins
Pakistani, Egyptian, and Turkish mediators continue to engage with the two sides to iron out differences between the two countries, which include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the future of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, and the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets.
Both sides are still hopeful that a deal can be reached before the two-week ceasefire ends on April 22, a U.S. official told Axios. That comes as Trump’s blockade of Hormuz takes effect, which will only affect vessels entering and leaving Iranian ports.
