Trump Says Democrats Using Epstein Files to ‘Deflect From Their Disastrous SHUTDOWN’

Earlier this week, the House Oversight Committee released 20,000 pages of documents from the estate of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein detailing his communications with business executives, politicians, and others. However, President Trump claims that the release is simply an attempt by Democrats to “deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN.”

The 43-day government shutdown, the longest on record, ended on Wednesday after Trump signed a bill to extend federal funding until January 30. At the same time, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the closure resulted in $11 billion of permanent economic damage, with disruptive effects ranging from furloughed federal employees to thousands of delayed flights.

Trump Urges Investigation of Clinton, JPMorgan Over Epstein Ties

The House Oversight Committee is made up of 26 Republicans and 21 Democrats, although Trump claimed that some Republicans sided with Democrats in support of releasing the files because they are “soft and foolish.”

Furthermore, Trump said that Democrats bear the problem of dealing with the Epstein fallout because the financier was aligned with the party. He also urged the Department of Justice and the FBI to conduct an investigation into Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, and JPMorgan Chase (JPM) over their alleged ties with Epstein.
