“A Country supplying Military Weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “There will be no exclusions or exemptions!”

China and Russia Under Threat of New Tariffs

The announcement could pressure U.S.-China relations ahead of Trump’s planned visit to Beijing next month. According to the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, Chinese banks, front companies, and intermediary firms have helped Iran gain access to technology that supports its missile and drone programs. At the same time, China has spoken out against Iran gaining access to nuclear weapons while simultaneously supporting its civilian nuclear energy program.

Russia is also in Trump’s crosshairs, as it is the only country to provide Iran with major arms over the past decade, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
