The two world leaders will meet at 3:30 Eastern Time at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage, Alaska. Afterward, a joint press conference will be held.
When asked by a reporter what would happen if the meeting sours, Trump confirmed that he “would walk” out.
Trump Sets the Stage for a Zelenskyy-Putin Meeting
Trump previously said that a second meeting with Putin, possibly including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other European leaders, would be more important than the first.
Before taking off on Air Force One, Trump said “All I want to do is set the table for the next meeting, which should happen shortly.” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noted that Trump recognizes the challenges of brokering a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire, describing it as a “multistep process” and dulling expectations of securing a truce during the first meeting.
